- Abstract
This paper describes a Small Satellite Transfer Vehicle concept developed by SSTL. This vehicle would be used to deploy a complex constellation of nano or picosats into an orbit significantly different to the injection orbit of the launch vehicle. By using this technology cost saving would be possible based on the efficiency of secondary payload space utilisation and the reduction of overheads that would otherwise be associated with provision by the launch provider of specific interfaces to numerous small payloads. The paper begins with a mission scenario analysis and continues to describe the system and system design of the transfer vehicle concept.
