    Abstract:

The performance monitoring of a satellite launch vehicle in flight is one of the important tasks in a range. It operates on a dedicated Real Time network, which supports three independent real time systems. The first one is to aid the flight safety officer with the required data to monitor the flight in real time based on tracking and telemetry data. It supports not only range safety decision making but also extends the mission displays till satellite injection. The second system processes the telemetry data to derive the vehicle parameters and to make it available elaborately on vehicle system consoles for sub-system specialists during flight and for quick-look analysis immediately after the flight. Third one provides displays in the Mission Control Centre for the senior executives to monitor ground systems readiness and to provide synthesis of the status.

Over the last three decades, this has been evolved at Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR) systematically. The systems run on two independent dual redundant networks for redundancy. While setting up the hardware, network and the software, importance is given to reliability, fault tolerance and many performance enhancement features with value added attributes. Presently, SDSC SHAR possesses a state-of-the-art facility and this paper provides a brief on the evolution, philosophy followed and on the real time system network.
