- Abstract
The computer program has been developed for calculation of probability of space station pressure wall penetration caused by meteoroids and space debris as well as of catastrophic consequences of penetration. Two methods for penetration probability calculation are provided: deterministic, based on Poisson probability distribution, and stochastic, based on statistical sampling of collision parameters (Monte-Carlo method). The Monte-Carlo technique provides calculation of probability of catastrophic consequences of penetration (space station module unzipping, crew loss of life due to hypoxia or injury). 3-D geometry model of space station is constructed on the basis of back ray-tracing visualizing method used in virtual reality objects construction. Comparison of test penetration probability calculation results with BUMPER code results is made for two test object models. The results of calculation of catastrophic consequences of penetration for space station model are presented.
