- Abstract
Characteristic features are determined for hypersonic aerodynamic shape of a Kliper type manned vehicle. The same was done for HP-20 type vehicle for comparison. The flow fields for optimized Kliper’s design are calculated by numerical integration of Navier-Stokes equation. They localized the areas of flow separation and provided data for shape optimization. The main task of calculations was the identification of aerodynamic characteristics which could not be found experimentally in WTT. The calculations were performed for laminar model of interaction. The numerical results were verified by experimental data from WTT. At the moment, all the considered shapes of Kliper type and HP-20 type vehicles do not provide enough safety for crew during re-entry, especially for non-nominal descent. Further shape optimization is necessary at coupled aerodynamic simulation of vehicle shape and control bodies.
