    Abstract
The payload of missions to solar system small bodies should include compact analytical instrument ensembles capable to measure the chemical composition with a high degree of precision. The data should allow classification and differentiation of extraterrestrial matter with the goal to understand the origin and evolution of the parent body. We will discuss instrumental approaches and their science goals within the frame of potential future space missions.
