    Abstract
    Since the “Cervantes” Mission (2003) an education programme for the complete formal school cycle (primary to university) has been implemented by ESA’s Human Spaceflight Directorate, during each subsequent ESA Astronaut Mission to the ISS: “Delta”, “Eneide” and “Astrolab” Missions.

    The programme is usually implemented with the financial support, and in coordination with, the national space agency, national government or other organisation(s) sponsoring the Mission.

    The programme of education activities is subdivided into the following categories:

    -	Activities for primary schools (target age group: 8-12 year olds) including LIVE Amateur Radio ISS contacts (ARISS) with the participation of primary school children;
    -	Activities for Secondary Schools: Web Chats with the ESA Astronaut pre-flight, and demonstrations filmed on board the ISS as part of a series of ESA ISS DVD Lessons, using space as a “vehicle” to teach topics of the European curriculum;
    -	University Level Experiments proposed by students within the scope of the ESA SUCCESS Student Contest and the SUCCESS Special Opportunities programme.

    The general public (primary and secondary school children) are invited to take part in the Web Chats and ARISS contacts. National Ministers of Education have also participated in such LIVE events, which have attracted wide media interest and coverage.

    The ISS DVD Lessons produced by ESA as a result of the ISS Missions are made available to the general public (European secondary school teachers in particular) in all 12 ESA languages.
