- Abstract
Low launch mass is a critical matter for a spacecraft. High performance and reliability are also important factors for systems which operate in Space. Microelectromechanical Systems are an excellent fit for Space applications. They can be highly integrated. Low mass, volume and power consumption are the advantages of MEMS for utilizing in Space. The MEMS devices can be batch-fabricated and consequently they have low cost. MEMS systems are also very good choices for medical applications. In this paper we discuss about a microrobot which can be entered into and moved thorough the human body. This microrobot can be used for screening for diseases, highly localized drug delivery and minimally invasive surgery. The microrobot can be remotely controlled from the Earth. In addition to it has the overall advantages of a MEMS device, this medical microrobot eliminates the need for surgeon in Space. Here the concept and function of microrobot is described. The required components of in-vivo microrobot are addressed. The feasibility of this device is also studied.
