- Abstract
Space junk is an ongoing problem, made more obvious by the results of the recent collision between the Russian satellite Cosmos-2251 and the United States spacecraft operated by the communications group Iridium. Debris is a known pollutant in space. This paper will examine existing trading schemes used to manage pollutants such as greenhouse gases, evaluating for effectiveness and identifying lessons learned. It will then apply these lessons to the problem of space debris.
