Abstract

Human Spaceflight is the most challenging technical field within the space related activities and a field in which the European Space Agency (ESA) has obtained major achievements in 2008 with the launch of the Columbus Laboratory and of the Advanced Transfer Vehicle (ATV), thus demonstrating to be a global space player within the International Space Station Programme.

However ESA, together with other space faring nations, is preparing for the next step in Human Spaceflight, which is the Moon Exploration. 

This challenging goal does require mastering a full suite of technologies and ESA is looking to all possible contributors. Amongst these, the ESA Cooperating States have some interesting technologies.

This paper will present the role of the Cooperating States as they prepare to become ESA full members as well as some interesting contributions they can bring to Human Spaceflight and possible future perspectives.
