    Abstract
Airship is now widely used as an early-warning or operational base patrolling in near-space, so it is important to develop satellite-based or land-based airship detection methods. Terahertz is defined as electromagnetic wave over the range 0.1 to 10THz (1THz corresponds to 33.3cm-1), which is between microwave and far infrared. Terahertz spectroscopy is a new spectral technology to study materials. In this paper, the most common airship used skin polymers’ terahertz spectra are measured in laboratory under different experimental conditions, like different gas, different gas filling pressure or different temperature. By analyzing the results, the conclusion is that the terahertz spectrum can distinguish different airship’s skin polymer and its filling gas. To accomplish satellite-based or land-based airship detection, a terahertz radiation transmission model with the use of discrete ordinate method is established, which is based on the conservation form of radiation transfer equation. This method divides space into grids and dispersed 4$\pi$ solid angle, and then iterative calculates the radiation intensity of different solid angle in grids center. This established model can figure out the terahertz radiation intensity in any direction of entire considered space with complex boundary.
