    Abstract
Background: Relevant research have showed that there existed a “third quarter” in interpersonal conflict during long-term HDBR experiments. In our 60-day HDBR, We occasionally found a “dusk turning-down” phenomenon in the day time during the third quarter season.
Method: Subjects were 24 healthy adult males. Behavior observation was employed to collect subjects’ state changing data, diary content analysis and short face to face interview were conducted for getting their emotional data, and their water drinking amount was used to provide evidence of emotion changing. Nonparametric test was used to get the difference significance of frequency. Results: Close observation showed that during the third quarter season, around the dusk moment, their ringing frequency was significantly higher than that at the same time of other three stages(p<.05), with more negative facial expression and keeping sucker in mouth. 30% more words like blue mood and fidget, were found in their dairy and short inquiry. And simultaneously, their everyday water drinking obviously increased, from 300ml to 500ml averagely, which coincidentally matched their keeping sucker in mouth. All the above data proved a dusk turning-down phenomenon existed. Discussion and suggestion: Maybe, when a day’s work ended, most of the missionary had gone home, the lab became suddenly more quiet, the dusk moment was coming, and above all, they could do nothing but lying on bed, they probably feel like to be “thrown” back to baby state and felt helpless. So, it suggested that we should pay more attention to the dusk period and try to provide more considerate mental support, and this will probably be necessary for long-term space mission astronauts.
