- Abstract
Nepalese society is deprived of basic space science and astronomy education. Institutions providing space science and astronomy education are few in number. No space agency is in existence till date. Yet, the development in space science and technology is very much essential in raising the living standard of Nepalese. From land monitoring to telemedicine its importance is highly cherished. Science Ministry has been initiating new working plans for the development of space science and astronomy education from government level and Universities are also developing syllabus related to space science and astronomy these days. The developing story of space science and astronomy education status will be discussed. Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) a non profitable and nongovernmental organization is carrying out various projects on its own and in collaboration with national and international organizations like Cosmology and Astrophysics Research Group, Central Department of Physics of Tribhuvan University, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, Space Generation Advisory Council, Global Hands on universe and Astronomers without borders to disseminate space science and astronomy education in Nepal. NASO has always contributed in making plans and policies and implementing them for effective results of the activities that is carried out amongst students, teachers and general public in the form of workshop, talk colloquium, seminars and outreaching events like star parties. Experiences, insights and innovative skills used to promote space science education and astronomy in Nepal will be discussed which is believed to play a vital role in promoting Space Science Education and could be an inspiration to other developing nations as well.
