    Abstract
    One of the major challenges in developing and sustaining small space technology companies in africa is funding, which can be in form of start-up grants from National governments, National space agencies, and International collaborators. The presence of small space technology companies in africa will aid technology transfer, Innovation, space technology spinoffs that will be a catalyst for other technological growth and resident expertise. This work will identify the challenges of setting up a small scale technology company in africa. This paper will also provide an overview of activities of small space technology companies in africa, the model they adopted and how they obtained start-up funds and the possibility of replicating such models in other parts of Africa.
