Abstract

The European Space Agency has been involved for several years now in developing and promoting integrated applications, based on a space technology. This initiative takes place in close partnership with
industry, in general SME's as well as with public institutions. In recent years ESA has been promoting all its programmes and activities supporting the UN sustainable Development Goals, set in 2015 and being
part of the Agenda 2030, through a catalogue put on line and containing hundreds of examples. This is in line with the regional initiative the so called 5 A - Africa, Arctica, Antarctica, Alps and Atlantic- ESA
is putting on effort too, at the demand of its Member States.
This paper will concentrate on the business applications which are supporting the achievement of the UN SDG's, illustrating some of them which are particularly relevant in the 5A initiative and showing success stories and use in specific areas.
