Abstract

Human spaceflight presents new challenges for traditional approaches to risk assessment. From the beginning itself,
human spaceflight has been recognized as a dangerous activity. Consequently, U.S. laws and regulations have grown
in tandem with space launch activities and operations to protect public health and safety. Opening access to space to
the public, certainly raises some novel concerns for increased risk assessment, safety, and management among
commercial entities. This paper also highlights the need for evaluating and clarifying social perspectives on issues of
risks and issues, safety, and standardization. It offers a multidisciplinary analysis in law, business and ethics to
support responsible decision-making, risk assessment for commercial spaceflight activities i.e., PRA (Probabilistic
Risk Assessment). One can also get to know what is PRA, steps involved in the PRA Technique and how we can use
PRA to mitigate/reduce the risk of human spaceflight.
