- Abstract
The volunteering activities of the Extension and Social Projection Center of the National University of Engineering (CEPS-UNI), in Peru, involve the continuous participation of the university community to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set by the 2030 Agenda. The volunteering addresses global warming, prevention against natural disasters and recycling of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, which are part of the second strategic priority of the last United Nations Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development for Peru and the national environmental perspective of the Strategic Plan for National Development to 2050. The various programs provided by the National Engineering University have been analyzed, such as the Sustainable Management Brigade of the campus with its workshops and events on sustainable mobility for an efficient city. The activities carried out by the CEPS diffusion area on environmental aerospace projects such as Wanka, which was a project that participated in the NASA High Altitude Student Platform program in 2022 with an environmental payload; or also like the Cansat Telemetry that participated in the C'Space competition in France in 2019 where it collected different environmental variables in its scientific mission during the descent of the Cansat resulting with the second place in the competition and talks on small satellites were presented. In addition, different environmental problems of Lima were analyzed and the way to participate with the social programs of CEPS. An analysis of the environmental impact of volunteering at the National University of Engineering and a review of the diffusion of environmental space projects by UNI were obtained. CEPS activities raise awareness in the university community on global warming, volunteering empowers students to become agents of change and they transmit the care of the environment to society; space projects gain greater impact on the population through the dissemination of CEPS UNI and encourage youth to be introduced and interested in the environmental field in space. Finally, we know the impact of volunteering in young students, the magnitude of the CEPS dissemination with space projects and they are currently on course for a sustainable campus for UNI.
