- Abstract
The flange-holes are applied on fuel tank for connection of pipeline. They used to be made by press machine. By this way, not only the molds are large and complicated, the forming process is difficult, but also the cost is high and efficiency is low. As a substitute of the conventional method, electromagnetic forming(EMF) is developed in this paper. The EMF, featured with high energy rate, high speed and simple mold, is applied to process metal plank.It was proved the plasticity of metal was significantly increased. By the research of foming flange-holes, the forming property of 5A06 aluminum alloy was investigated in this paper. The experiment results showed that the height of flange has a relation with discharge energy,foming property, and diameter of hole. Finally, the 31.7% extensive rate was obtained, and the foming property was greatly improved.
