    Abstract
    Purpose: To provide the referential information for us to make a protocol of artificial gravity load in space, we evaluated how much gravitational load (Gz load) people are experiencing on earth (1G environment) in 24 hours.
    Methods: Subjects were 70 cases of young adult women who were from 18 to 20 year old. The questionnaire asked the subjects what kind of posture they keep and how long they maintain each posture (the duration time of each posture) during the whole day (24 hours). The Gz load of each posture was supposed as follows; Sleeping in beds 0.1Gz, Sitting on chairs 0.5Gz, Standing 1.0Gz, Walking 1.2Gz, Rapid walking 1.4Gz, Running 1.5Gz, Climbing stairways 1.4Gz, Riding bicycles 1.5Gz, Driving cars 0.6Gz, lying on benches 0.3Gz, Taking baths 0.3Gz and so on. Each Gz load score (Gz*hr) of each posture was calculated by multiplying each Gz load of each posture by each duration time. Total Gz load score (Gz*hr) of each subject during whole day was calculated by adding all Gz load scores of each subject.
    Results: The average of total Gz load scores was 13.8 +/- 2.4 Gz*hr (mean +/- SD).
    Conclusions: This is just one of the proposals of how to evaluate the gravitational load people are experiencing on earth, however this method may be useful to settle the Gz loads which are made by using short-arm centrifuge (artificial gravity) in space ships or on space stations.
    We had already reported that the increase of hematocrit could be significantly suppressed but could not be quite sufficiently suppressed by using short-arm centrifuge during 4 days head-down bed-rest. In this report, the Gz load was about 5 Gz*hr per day which was 3 Gz*hr (3 Gz for 1 hour) by using the centrifuge plus about 2 Gz*hr by bed-rest. 2 or 3 more hours of 3 Gz load is still required from this assumption.
