  • The Equation of the Psychological Condition of Cosmonauts

    Abstract

    In conditions long-duration space missions on-orbit, in a lunar base, or during an expedition to Mars it is possible to describe behaviour of cosmonauts with the help of the equation of a psychological condition. In the report the equation is deduced for interrelation produced by cosmonauts of the new information θ i as result of the certain individual irritation R i which have acted from the outside, demanding decision-making, and intelligence of cosmonaut I i . This decision is based on of intellectual information I i contained in a signal (irritation) in view of temperament of the cosmonaut µ, importance (motivation) of the put problem ν, influences of the gravitational field described by some function of kind J = J 1 exp(−Δ j 2), functions of conditions space flight S = S 1 exp(−ω) exp(−Δ V) (the first an exhibitor takes into account influence of vibrations with frequency ω, the second takes into account reduction of vital volume by the space ship in comparison with the standard on the Earth). The hypothesis is put in a basis of a deduction of the equation of a condi-tion, that the amount of the new information which have appeared in cosmonaut’s memory as the solution on the signal, represents the sum of information arrived with a signal (irri-tation) R i and the information contained in produced after that the decision θ i. On the other hand, this sum is directly proportional to quantity of the used part of intelligence I i , of factor of motivation of decision-making ν, functions J, complex function of conditions of space flight S (including vibration ω, narrowness, a high emotional pressure). The absolute information level of the accepted decision is determined by a difference between some hypothetical most correct decision having quantity I i and available in memory of the cosmonaut (determined by his intelligence) I i in view of the information ϕ i, incorporated in memory of the person at a birth at a genic level.     Basic psychophysical law connects the irritation and sensation by dependence

    where a=1/ b 2 ϕ i 2; β=1/(1+ ϕ i) We have named the received expression by the equation of a psychological condition of the cosmonaut. Its kind corresponds to catastrophe cusp, which allows to analyze quantitative influence of various magnitudes including gravitational fields, other various space factors of conditions of the space ship or on planetary station (Lunar or Martian). For example, the reduction of function of a gravitational field due to weightlessness on 10 % under the initial magnitude φ=1 has decreased φ up to 0.9. Calculation shows the decreasing of serviceability of the cosmonaut for 40-%, in this case. Thus the received equation enables to analyze quantitative influence of other parameters included in the given model.
