- Abstract
There is high demand for smart materials while launch vehicle capacity is limited. Shape memory materials are expected as smart materials for space use which can actuate without complex mechanism on orbit. JAXA has selected two type shape memory polymer (SMP), fiber rein forced SMP and foamed SMP, because of its light weight, high workability and large recovery volume. We judged that SMP is feasible actuator from environmental and shape recover tests and succeeded in heighten grass transition temperature equivalent shape recovery temperature. This presentation will introduce mechanical and shape memory properties, and shape recover behaviors of SMP and developing processing method
