    Project Description
École des métiers de l’aérospatiale de Montréal, in association with the Canadian Space Agency and the Ministère du développement économique régional et de la recherché, is proud to present an innovative project entitled “National Mobile Space Station” (NMSS). The NMSS is a pan-Canadian project that will enable primary and secondary students to take part in unique scientific experiments in a state-of-the-art environment.

Built in a 60 foot trailer, the NMSS can house up to 30 students per mission. The students’ teacher will be coached on the scientific protocols of the mission and the scientific possibilities offered by the NMSS. Once trained, the teacher will welcome his students aboard the space station and act as the mission leader. A technician will also be on hand to guide the teacher’s efforts and provide all the necessary support to complete the one-day mission. Eleven scientific workstations related to space science will enable the students to learn about various scientific applications and associated science careers and professions. Because of the mobility of the space station, schools in remote areas will also be able to benefit from the NMSS’s unique and stimulating environment.

    Presentation points
Presented at the IAF convention, this educational project will cover the following points:
    •Project description
    	Mission Vision Values

•Status review Current situation in the area of science careers

    •The next generation Project objectives
    Project originality Expected results

    •Selected approach
Training program for Quebec and Canadian schools
Type of product Scientific development Content validation approach Direct production costs

    •Promotion and dissemination strategies
    	Promotional plan Dissemination network
    •NMSS committee Purpose Members
The teacher will use a reference framework in keeping with student interest levels to develop the experiments undertaken aboard the NMSS. To fulfill their mission, students will follow stringent scientific protocols and have access to cutting edge equipment.

This unique, wide-scale project will embark on a cross-Canada tour to fulfill its own mission: to encourage young people to consider space science as a career and to provide teachers with a greater understanding of the space environment.
