    Abstract
Being always complementary to the mainstream activities of the major space players, technology transfer to non-space industries can, however, play an important role for society in many respects. At the same time, it may bring some added value to the companies’ every day business, that is especially true today, when the world space industry is still on its way to recovery after several tough years.

Recognising the above, Yuzhnoye SDO pays due attention to the attempts of bringing its reach space technology heritage to certain branches of the national economy, thus moving away the horizon of traditional activities. The company also targets end users from outside the country’s boundaries, and to this end Yuzhnoye membership in ESINET (European Space Incubators Network), unique for the Eastern Europe representatives, aims at building partnership and exchange of the relevant experience with like-minded European enterprises, as well as paving the way to the western markets.

More than 500 space technologies developed by Yuzhnoye are available for transfer, some of them have been successfully introduced into practice. The industries to benefit from these technologies include as diverse areas as transport, food industry, information technologies, ecology, medicine, mining, metallurgy, sport and others.

Several Yuzhnoye space technology transfer show cases are going to be presented, as well as the most perspective developments being still in the pipeline and waiting for the recognition by the target industries. The authors’ opinion on how to increase effectiveness of the technology transfer activity will be expressed, in particular what concerns incentives the governments and space agencies can offer to space spin-offs and their mother companies, and also regarding East-West collaboration schemes.
