    Abstract
Technology transfer from space has been a hot issue for decades. Examples from the Apollo program as e.g. the Nastran software, achievements in miniaturization or computer technology, and many more have created social-economic benefits, but have partly been used excessively for lobbying and funding purposes.

Manifold space technology transfer activities have been established around the globe and numerous transfers have been realized. However, often results are either barely available in appropriate quality and format or the overall output of space technology transfer efforts is not balanced in light of the resources involved. In addition space technology transfer is still seen somewhat exotic optimal in the traditional space world and funding is sub-optimal, although meeting modern social-economic.

The paper deals with essential elements of successful space technology transfer with a special focus on finance and enabling factors associated. Starting from generic considerations related to the transfer process, major issues are highlighted. Financing options are presented and selected examples are discussed. Finally universally applicable recommendations are made to foster and improve space technology transfer.

Background of the findings presented are experiences made by the author over almost 20 years involvement in space projects, venture capital, education and strategy on global level.
