The levels of physical activity and of energy intake may affect the inflammatory response. We have evaluated the effects of 14 days of bed rest at normal and low energy intake level on plasma levels and white blood cell expression of inflammatory markers [pro- and anti- inflammatory cytokines, C-reactive protein (CRP) and long pentraxin-3 (PTX3)] and mediators (plasma insulin and leptin levels).
