- Abstract
The future astrobiological exploration of the solar system will depend on the foundation that is being laid now. With the rise of an astrobiological framework for robotic exploration, and the successes of recent missions to Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and to related and independent small solar system bodies, a wide variety of exploration opportunities have been met. Bringin human explorers into the picture comes with both positive aspects and important challenges. This paper will discuss those, and point a way forward.
