- Abstract
The Pléiades HR program is a CNES program which has been consolidated through a cooperation with the space agency of Sweden, Belgium, Spain and Austria. The mission is intended to provide high resolution optical data to the benefits of civilian and dual users in term of operational capability and rapid access. Pléiades is also part of a cooperation with Italy which will provide Radar data through the CosmoSkymed program. Access to optical and radar data will greatly enhance the capability of understanding images. The Pleiades program is composed of two satellites of 1 ton classes, the first being launched beginning of 2009 and the second 18 months later, ground segments for reception, archiving and processing the data. The data distribution will be delegated to a civilian operator, Spot Image which is operating all the SPOT satellites. The cooperative countries will have access to the data either directly through dedicated ground segments, either through the civilian operator. The paper will describe the Pleiades system including space and ground segments and the users preparatory activities. It will develop the cooperative aspects .
