    Abstract
This paper describes some in-orbit verification and validation performed at EUMETSAT on ATOVS L1 products received from the recently launched NOAA-18 satellite, in particular those of the MHS instrument, using the EPS Cal/Val Facility (CVF). The work was mainly conducted during the commissioning phase of the satellite following its launch in May 2005 and is continuing into the recently declared operational phase.
A brief overview of the CVF design and its role within the EPS Overall Ground Segment(OGS) is given prior to showing the results obtained with NOAA-18 L1 products
processed by the EPS Core Ground Segment (CGS) at Eumetsat, as well as those processed by NOAA. The facility will be used in the calibration and validation of all the products generated by the EPS CGS during the commissioning and exploitation phases of the EPS programme.
