- Abstract
There is an urgent need for communication services in case of natural disasters on a global scale. Continuation of data relay services is another topic. Within this paper a satellite communication system is proposed, which is capable to satisfy the needs of data relay users, and building on this core mission to provide communication services to users located within the coverage of this satellite. The unique feature of the concept is to provide multi-user services by generating a spot beam coverage of the visible part of the Earth. These spot beams are used for data relay services for LEO satellites and high flying aircrafts and UAV’s. The same spot beams can be used in another frequency band to provide broadband services to fixed and mobile users. The paper will collect the user needs and outlines the mission concept. Details of the payload design will be discussed and finally an estimation of the satellite configuration is performed.
