    Abstract
This paper presents the design and implementation of Nanosat01A communication subsystem. The physical layer of this subsystem is formed by UHF radio, modem and antennas; a high layer protocol completes the communication subsystem. The on board UHF radio is a transceiver that use direct modulation on the transmitter and single conversion receiver with analog IQ demodulation, with three TCXO of 1 ppm of stability the provides the local oscillator signals. In the ground segment, radio’s architecture has changed to double conversion receiver in order to obtain a high gain that improves signal detection. The technique used to compensate Doppler shift with programmable devices and the problems with interferences and its solutions are described. Two types of earth station antennas (hemispherical and Yagi) and the results with both are presented. The general quality requirements are also given in this paper to understand the selection process of the communication subsystem devices.
