- Abstract
To perform study of space debris objects at high orbits new international program is carried out using optical and radar facilities located across Eurasia. There are two main directions of our work – search and subsequent continuous tracking of unknown objects on high orbits (GEO and HEO, including GTO and Molniya-type) and maintenance of archive of precise orbits and physical characteristics of tracked object. Optical campaigns conducting within frame of our work are involving scientific network of optical facilities in CIS countries and observatory of Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern. Both bright and faint unknown objects are studying. The periodic radar sessions are arranged based on the Evpatoria RT-70 transmitter and array of receiving antennas in Russia, Ukraine, Italy, China and Latvia. The VLBI radar and beam-track techniques are in development. The paper gives an overview of our efforts and instruments involved into the program. The discussion includes requirements to different sensors to provide studying especially small-sized and faint high orbit space debris.
