    Abstract
The Yuzhnoye State Design Office (YSDO) is performing works, jointly with Avio group, Italy, on elaboration, development, qualification and manufacture of the Main Engine Assembly (MEA) for the fourth stage of European Vega LV. The MEA is fed with NTO+UDMH propellants delivered by pressurization system.

The MEA uses combustion chamber of RD869 turbopump-fed serially produced engine. Modification of RD869 engine consists in introduction of a gimbal mount on the chamber head and certain correction of internal fuel film cooling system’s parameters.

At the time being, at YSDO bench the dynamic and firing tests of two MEA development models are performed within a broad range of parameters, as well as qualification dynamic and firing tests of two MEA models in accordance with requirements of Avio’s Technical Specification.

Results of MEA development and qualification tests have confirmed mastering of technological processes on MEA manufacture and compliance of actual MEA characteristics with specified ones. MEA combustion processes are stable both in transient and steady-state modes. Serviceability of MEA is confirmed at multiple hot restarts and service-life tests within qualification and development (extended) envelopes of parameters.
