- Abstract
With the aim to continue the development of satellite launch vehicles according to the National Program for Space Activities (PNAE) of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), a new launch vehicle program has been established and announced. The new program, called Program Cruzeiro do Sul, as a continuation of the development performed for the VLS-1 (Brazilian Satellite Launch Vehicle), is comprised of five new vehicles to be developed and qualified until the year 2022. One new solid propellant motor and two liquid motors are going to be developed to equip the series of the five launch vehicles. New capabilities and technologies have also to be installed and qualified in the next decade to achieve the goals of the program. The article presents the program and the five new launch vehicles, and comment on the efforts to develop the new capabilities and technologies.
