- Abstract
On the basis of an integrated comparative analysis of main (base) RASS concepts, the results of performed theoretical conceptual design and experimental investigations (Research Programs “Orel” 1993-2000, “Grif”, 2002-2005), main characteristics of advanced reusable aerospace systems were estimated and the most probable ways of their advancement were predicted depending on the available scientific and technical solutions and the degree of their critical technologies development. A number of domestic and foreign RASS concepts of different aerodynamic configurations are singled out. Some scientific and research problems to be solved for developing RASS are discussed. Shown are fragments of the experimental investigations, conducted in TsAGI for developing and ground-bed testing the key technologies of reusable aerospace systems and proposed types of critical technologies demonstrators. Conclusions have been made about the necessity of regular careful and purposeful efforts in revealing a nearest possible niche with respect to RASS tasks and capabilities within a series of domestic and foreign programs, in increasing the reliability, safety and in reducing the costs of life cycle and operation of advanced reusable aerospace systems.
