    Abstract
To support mission assurance and effective implementation, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) information systems department and JAXA’s Digital Engineering Innovation Center have been developing technical information management systems with digitizing technical information from paper documents since 2000 to accelerate technical knowledge sharing among JAXA staffs as well as partners. For this knowledge management, an anomaly information database, the Project Information Management System (PIMS) for a satellite project and the Digital Archive system (DARC) are in operation as technical information systems. Those technical information systems are very valuable for knowledge sharing among ongoing aerospace projects in JAXA. However, since those systems are developed individually and there are no interoperable functions nor single portal site to access them, users have to walk around to find any information of needed. Therefore, it is necessary to establish interoperable environment to share technical information and database more efficiently and user friendly. In addition, it is very difficult to collect technical documents from ongoing / past projects since there are no standard guidelines how and what information should be archived. So, JAXA realize the importance to develop a guideline to define a standard rule and procedure to capture, maintain and provide information / knowledge.
This paper describes the overview of JAXA’s knowledge management activity and information systems for knowledge management.
