- Abstract
Space offers an excellent medium as a strategic support tool for ‘blended’ learning. In reality ‘blended’ learning is not new, it is what teachers have always done in terms of ‘best practice’. What is different is technology, which allows easier access to wider choice of tools and resources. Blended learning is literally the blending of learning tools and strategies such that an individual might learn and progress to their own maximum and at their own speed using a genre-mix best suited to their personal learning style and abilities. It encompasses the full spectrum of genre; technology, print material, environment and hands-on role play etc. It retains a strong traditional taxonomy structure. This paper considers the merits of ESA Science/Technology Education support to formal and informal blended learning programmes. Based on an array of formal and informal genre the paper will use proven in-the-field exemplars of ESA Science/Technology resources in use in the professional formal, informal and out reach learning activity areas.
