    Abstract
EUROAVIA is the European Association of Aerospace Students, founded in 1959 and present in 29 cities in 17 European countries, with a total of about 1000 members.

The purpose of my presentation “EUROAVIA, the European Association of Aerospace Students” is to provide a comprehensive study of this organization, whose main objective is to offer the opportunity of contact between aerospace professionals and students from around Europe.

This association is very important for all of our members, as it is for me - I have been EUROAVIA Madrid president since 2004 - because we know that it is an important input for working in and studying this career. Besides, there are some vital skills an aerospace engineer cannot obtain from books, the ones which make you a more qualified professional, and all of this knowledge can be learned in EUROAVIA.

Initially, the paper describes the structure and working of this non-political and non-profit association, managed exclusively by students from the member countries.

It goes on to detail the international activities, most of them organized by the different members of the Local Groups. These events include:

    - Fly–ins: one week events involving cultural visits, lectures and visits to university and company facilities.

     - Symposia: technical and educational sessions, with workshops and hands-on sessions.

     - DeCo / DeWo: The Design Contest among all interested European students (not only aerospace students!) on a specific topic, resulting in preliminary studies on aeronautical or space projects.

     - Congresses: Two annual meetings of the EMEAC (Electoral Meeting of the Euroavia Congress) and the AMEAC (Annual Meeting of the EUROAVIA Congress).

    -	Formation Workshop: Euroavia’s internal training event.

     - Air shows: Euroavia participates in the major aerospace exhibitions in Europe:
ILA (Berlin), Le Bourget (France), Farnborough (UK).

    - Cultural Exchanges between local groups.

The paper concludes with an explanation of the Permanent Working Groups (PWG) who are essential components of Euroavia, and who are responsible for EUROAVIA’s news media: the EUROAVIA News magazine and the EUROAVIA Newsletter. Both are written, published and distributed by members of the association.

My participation will be supported by a special project: a poster and a DVD video-loop which will show how EUROAVIA works in events organized by the association.

I hope to include details of the use of chat throughout the congress, including msn messenger, or some similar system, to facilitate communication between members of Euroavia and participants in the congress.
