    Abstract
As presented by Ms. Schoppe in her “Investigate before Investing” paper at the 2005 International Astronautical Congress, research and development (R\&D) investment decisions should take into consideration what technology already exists that might accelerate the R\&D effort. Forming a partnership for “technology infusion” has many benefits. But this raises the question: How does one find a potential partner and be sure it is a good match?

This follow-on paper provides practical tools for forming partnerships to collaborate on aerospace technology development. Readers will learn how to conduct the research needed to identify potential technology solutions, including finding the relevant industries/companies and determining which have the most to offer as a partner. Common pitfalls will be discussed as well as practical means for avoiding them. For example, a key element in this research is talking to the appropriate individuals at the relevant companies, and this paper will present exactly how to identify those individuals and will provide guidance for those discussions.

All of the theories to be presented in the paper are based on actual experiences, and these examples will be included to put the concepts in context.
