    Abstract
Results of onground simulation studies revealed the leading role of the support (weightbearing) afferentation in control of structural-functional properties of the tonic muscle system. Withdrawal of the support was followed in the 7-days dry immersion and the long-term bedrest studies by the suppression of the activities of tonic motor units that in its turn caused the development of all physiological and morphological alterations in the motor system (both in peripheral and central mechanisms) identical to those recorded in weightlessness.
New methods of countermeasures of negative motor effects of weightlessness were developed based on those experimental data. The first one, named compensator of support unloading (CSU), is represented by the mechanostimulator that activates mechanically the support zones of soles in the regimens of locomotion (slow and fast stepping). The second one, named functional electrostimulator (FES), provides low frequency and low voltage stimulation of skeletal muscles – flexors and extensor of legs, thighs and back muscles. The developed means being wearable can be used for few hours during the day without interaction with working activities. Both devices being applied daily by 2-3 hours under onground microgravity simulation (7-days dry immersion) activated the tonic muscle system and eliminated fully all the motor effects of microgravity including muscle atonia and atrophy, the prominent decline of muscle contractile properties and performance as well as the alterations of locomotion, posture and others.
