    Abstract
Autonomous hazard detection and avoidance is one of the key technologies for a safe landing of future planetary pinpoint landing mission. In this paper, we present onboard GNC system function architecture and autonomous hazard detection and avoidance algorithms for future safe planetary landing missions. Firstly, the GNC system function framework with capability of autonomous hazard detection and avoidance is suggested; then, two automated hazard detection algorithms, based on passive and active sensors respectively, are given out in detail; next, the autonomous hazard avoidance guidance algorithm is formulated by use of potential function guidance theory. Finally, the validity of the proposed navigation scheme is confirmed by computer simulation.
