- Abstract
The collision between an operational spacecraft and space objects is the growing concern in the spaceflight operations agencies. A novel collision probability algorithm based on joint-normal distribution function is proposed to deal with this problem. By analyzing the collision parameters of the in-orbit spacecraft and space objects, a joint-normal distribution function with object orbital minimum distance difference, argument of latitude and the distance covariance matrix of the two different orbital planes is create to compute the collision probability. With this algorithm, the in-orbit spacecraft collision avoidance strategy and control parameters can be determined by properly configure the threshold and probability value. Simulation shows that this algorithm meets the engineering demand, and is of reference in the in-orbit spacecraft collision prediction.
