- Abstract
On May 14 2007 China successfully launched Nigcomsat-1 into space by LM-3B launch vehicle from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center. Nigcomsat-1 satellite is based on DFH-4 platform, which is Chinese new generation large capacity geostationary satellite platform. The satellite finally positioned at 42ºE orbit on May 22 and was successfully delivered to the Customer, Nigeria National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) on July 6 after platform and payload IOT. Up to now, the satellite was operating in orbit excellently for 9 month. This paper introduce the launch and in-orbit flight of Nigcomsat-1, include the phases such as launch, orbit transfer, IOT, normal operating, autumn eclipse, etc. This paper presents the major performance of attitude control, propulsion, power, TC&R, thermal subsystem, emphasized on the solar array, battery, control software, on board data handling performance evaluation.
