Abstract

HY-1B is a LEO small satellite for ocean observation designed and produced by CAST (Chinese Academy of Space Technology). The user is China Ocean Administration. Its Main mission is to survey the ocean color of image to exploit the resources of ocean organism, to supervise and prevent the marine pollution, to exploit the resources of coastline and to research the oceanography. HY-1B has benn launched on April11th, 2007. 

HY-1B satellite is developed based on CAST968 multi-mission platform for small satellite. This paper describes the mission of HY-1B satellite and some adaptive alternation from HY-1 satellite. By the analysis of user’s requirements, the system design has been presented. At the mean time, the detailed design of each subsystem is introduced here. 

From HY-1B CAST 968 has been a practical small satellite platform. And it can be used in many domains for satellite utility.
