    Abstract

This paper investigates periodic solutions in the planar circular restricted three-body problem where the third massless body is a solar sail in the Earth-Moon system.
In this model the Sun line direction is not fixed in the corotating frame and the equations of motion of the sail are given by a set of nonlinear nonautonomous ordinary differential equations.
By making use of the method of Lindstedt-Poincaré, we are able to produce a third-order analytic solution about the L 1 Point. These approximate analytical solutions are utilized in a numerical search to determine periodic orbits in the full nonlinear model. A simple linear feedback control is then implemented to stabilize the unstable orbits.
For the purpose of validating the concepts, we have generated the results for several values of the sail lightness number.
