    Abstract

The carbon cloth phenolic material is always used as insulator of exit cone. It shows good insulation and ablation performance. For gaining all specimens from product is very difficult, rectangle subscale product is designed and tested to know the material better. The study includes the influence of heat preservation time and heating rate on test result, the property of high temperature and after carbonization. The thickest and thinnest specimens are selected to be heated in certain temperature for different time. Whether the heat preservation time is 10 minutes or 2 hours, the mechanics property test results are not different within 300C(centigrade). Thermal expansion is tested with heating rate of 5C/min, 30C/min and 50C/min. The test results rise along with heating rate increase. Mechanics property within 300C is tested with 20 minutes heat preservation. The result shows: (1) In 200C, the strengths which depend on interlaminar bond force, including interlaminar tensile and shear strength, fill and wrap compressive strength, remain about 60% value of room temperature, and other strengths have no changes. (2) In 300C, all strengths decrease. Physics property within 800C is tested with 5C/min heating rate. The result shows: (1) Along with temperature increase, thermal expansion decrease, specific heat and thermal conductivity go up. (2) Interlaminar thermal conductivity is about 25% value of fill and wrap direction. The specimens are carbonized in 800C for an hour, and tested in room temperature. Through the test we know that the material remains part strength after carbonization. Wrap tensile strength remains about 30% value, wrap compressive and flexural strength remains about 15% value.
