- Abstract
Space science is playing a prominent role in Europe's space programme and has been a strong driver in technology developments implemented in space missions. ESA is building its future in space science based on a "Cosmic Vision" and is identifying the key enabling technologies to implement the identified missions under this Cosmic Vision Programme. The presentation will provide an overview of the various space science mission opportunities and their identified technology drivers, among them elements of materials and structures as part of the required mechanical systems. The presentation will also address technology drivers identified in the science payloads proposed for the different mission scenarios.
