- Abstract
The European Cooperation on Space Standards (ECSS), a cooperation between ESA, European national space agencies and industry are developing a complete and consistent set of space standards to facilitate efficient space system development. Within this system several standards have been developed or are under development which relate to space environments and their effects. These include a standard on space environment, a standard on methods for calculation of radiation effects, a standard on radiation hardness assurance and a standard on spacecraft-plasma interactions. This contribution will present these standards, their contexts and the issues arising in establishing and using them.
