- Abstract
Space technology has many beneficial effects on our everyday life. Its applications are used daily by many millions of people, most of whom do not even realize, where it comes from. Besides the technological spin-offs, space technology and space applications improve the quality of life in many aspects as well ( i.e. weather forecast, resource management, disaster management, navigation systems etc.). At the same time the general public and even some decision makers around the globe feel that too much money is spent in space while it could be better used here on Earth. The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) set up a working group to address this gap and to help outreach efforts already being undertaken by different entities. One of the aims is to show how the benefits of space technology increase the quality of life - focusing especially on developing regions. This paper describes the work done by the working group so far and outlines its activities and information dissemination planning for the coming months.
