    Abstract
In the framework of the initiative CIBA Park (CIRA Innovation Business Accelerator – Park), the Italian Centre for Aerospace Research (CIRA) has the objective to characterize, promote and assist innovative enterprises that are involved in start-up or spin-off phases. CIBA Park aims to promote enterprises creation and development in the field of aerospace and more generally in Information and Communication Technology spun-in the aerospace sector.

CIRA has therefore decided to open its laboratories to entrepreneurs which will have the possibility to have access to ground laboratories (to perform unique tests for atmospheric re-entry, aerospace structures impact and ice accretion on aircraft), flying laboratories (to test under real conditions the most advanced aerospace technologies) and Theoretical Numerical Laboratories which allow conducting theoretical analyses in sectors as Advanced Structures, Information Technology, Space propulsion and Adaptronic. Entrepreneurs are being supported by CIRA’s senior staff in order to optimise the use of such facilities. Additionally, a structured team of business analysts from D’Appolonia S.p.A., an engineering consultancy company, supports the incubated entrepreneur in activities such as analysis of the markets, technology scouting, inventive problem solving, internationalization, IPR strategies, business planning etc.

CIBA Park has recently launched a second round of companies to be supported. The sectors of activity of such start-ups vary from ICT terrestrial applications to the development of new power generators for renewable energy. The aim of the paper is therefore to describe the status of activities so far performed with practical examples of supported companies and, building on the current incubation methodology of CIBA Park to evaluate further steps taking into account new cooperation schemes at European level.
