    Abstract
Although general public is aware of the fact that issues with food security have been prominent around the globe, not many are familiar with the roles space technology can play in tackling these issues. The idea of space still appears strange and foreign to most people; therefore, its benefits are unknown. Even though people worldwide utilize benefits of space technologies on daily basis they do not consider space playing an important role in their lives.

While the potential benefits of space science and technology and its applications for developing countries are generally recognised, experience has shown that successful implementation and operational use of this technology is subject to the resolution of some major issues, including the continuous development of human resources at all levels, training of end-users, development of appropriate infrastructure and policy regulations, allocation of necessary budgetary resources. However, without proper understanding of the importance of the subject matter it cannot be expected that the general public will support government spending on space applications, even if it can potentially directly benefit them.

This study has gathered data through surveying persons around the globe in order to measure their awareness in regards to the items in question. The goal of this project has been to illustrate that education, outreach, and information distribution is necessary in order to raise the awareness of the general public in regards to what space technology can do. Persons aware of the benefits of space technology have the ability to influence decision makers and support governments in financing such endeavours.
