- Abstract
This paper explores recent developments within the ‘Next Gen’ space community in the United States to reach and engage young people in space exploration: Yuri’s Night Ames, OpenNASA.com, Co-lab/Second Life Island etc. It also explores efforts of a new surge of young space leaders to incite NASA to embrace new technologies such as blogs and twitter and new approaches such as collaboration and public inclusion to make NASA more accessible, transparent, participatory and well, more fun. Why? Because that is what it will take to capture the hearts and minds of young people (and it would make working there nicer too).
